Dr. Tricia Leahey Appointed as Interim Director

Dear InCHIP Community,

As was recently announced, I have taken on a new role as Interim Vice Provost for Health Sciences. In this position, I will be working across UConn and UConn Health to foster interdisciplinary collaborations, remove barriers to cross-campus work, increase the impact of our health sciences, and enhance interprofessional education efforts. In many ways, it builds on what we do at InCHIP and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with InCHIP investigators and staff in this new capacity.

I am thrilled to share that Dr. Tricia Leahey – Professor of Allied Health Sciences and InCHIP PI – has been appointed as Interim InCHIP Director (see VPR Alpay’s announcement below). Tricia is an accomplished health researcher with a strong track record of NIH funding and of mentoring students and faculty. She will officially start as Interim Director on August 23 – I know she will be excellent in this role and that you will all enjoy working with her. Until then, I will continue to work closely with the InCHIP team to ensure a smooth transition.

InCHIP is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and I am proud of all we have accomplished as a scientific community. Let’s celebrate Tricia’s appointment and InCHIP’s history together in-person this fall (details to follow). In the meantime, I encourage you to reach out to Tricia with words of welcome (tricia.leahey@uconn.edu).

For any questions related to grants management/business operations, please contact Steve Jagielo (steven.jagielo@uconn.edu), and for any matters related to research training and development, please contact Grace Morris (grace.morris@uconn.edu). I am also eager to hear your ideas about how to build stronger interdisciplinary partnerships across our campuses, specifically what’s working, what we can do better, and where we can grow. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to share your thoughts (amy.gorin@uconn.edu).

Warm regards,
Amy
