Research Overview

Generally, my research interests fall under school-based behavior assessment and intervention and school mental health. Emphasis of this work is on prevention and early intervention, and within an ecological systems perspective. I am currently exploring work around trauma-informed service delivery in schools, and am interested in collaborating around systems implementation of school coordinated health frameworks. Since 2006, I have served or am serving as Project Director on two IES-funded measurement projects designed to develop and validate use of Direct Behavior Rating (DBR: directbehaviorrating.org) in screening and formative assessment of behavior. Additionally, I currently serve as Project Director on an IES-funded exploration project to assist school personnel, community stakeholders, and policy-makers in understanding if and how social, emotional, and behavioral screeners are being used in schools, and what factors influence use. I previously served as Project Director and Co-Training Director (with George Sugai) on an IES postdoctoral training project. I am a fellow in both the American Psychological Association and Association for Psychological Science. Prior to becoming a university trainer, I worked as a school psychologist and school administrator in a variety of settings for children with behavior disorders.
