Research Overview

Justin Nash, PhD, is a Professor and Department Head of the Department of Allied Health Science at the University of Connecticut. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from Ohio University. He interned at the VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT and completed a postdoctoral year in the Pain Evaluation and Treatment Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Until recently he was the Director, Division of Behavioral Health, in the Department of Family Medicine at Memorial Hospital. His academic and professional pursuits are interprofessional in nature and largely in health promotion and chronic disease prevention and management. He has a focus on integrating of behavioral health into medical settings, and in particular, primary care. He has held leadership positions in the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium and on a number of National Institutes of Health grants (T32, R25T, P50) training researchers to use different disciplinary approaches. His leadership also includes current Board position for the Council of Clinical Health Psychology Training Programs (Chair) and the Society for Health Psychology (APA Division 38), and past Board positions for the Society of Behavioral Medicine. He is past Associate Editor of Annals of Behavioral Medicine and Journal of Behavioral Medicine.
