Research Overview

My research focuses on developing authentic, classroom-based research experiences for K-12 and university students. As an InCHIP affiliate, I plan to develop a program related to brain health and wellness. In this program, high school students will first participate in a large-scale citizen science project on the effects of physical exercise and meditation on anxiety levels and focus. Next, with support from near-peer mentors, students will work in small teams on designing investigations related to brain health and wellness. This project will build on my ongoing NIH-funded program (“BrainWaves”) where students learn about neuroscience by measuring their own brain activity with portable electroencephalography (EEG) devices.
