Description

On January 30th, 2026, InCHIP is hosting an in-person networking event aimed at connecting health researchers from across disciplines to foster collaboration and generate innovative ideas that are centered on poverty and health.

Event Structure

Researchers will give 3-minute (2 slides max) lightning round talks where they will:

  • Provide a brief overview of their lab’s area of expertise as it relates to poverty and health (~1 minute)
  • Share 2-3 relevant research projects and/or potential applications of their work (~2 minutes)

Adherence to time limits is critical. Please be sure to adhere to the above guidelines.

After presentations, researchers will be encouraged to connect over light refreshments.

Who Should Attend?

Health Researchers - we invite attendance from researchers working in human health-related research that aligns with the theme of this networking event including but not limited to those working in the social sciences, applied health sciences, medicine, humanities, and engineering.

Internal Funding Opportunity

Networking attendees will be eligible for an internal funding opportunity for new collaborations between health researchers to address poverty and health. The funding opportunity announcement will be announced at the event and be posted on this page at that time. We will also have a comprehensive directory of registrants one week prior to the event.

Guidelines for Presentations:

  1. The first 12 individuals who submit their slides by the deadline below will be allowed to present. You will be notified if you are among the 12 presenters for the event. Additional slides received beyond the 12-presenter limit will be added to a slide deck that will be continuously rotating during the event.
  2. Length of presentation: Presentations will be afforded 3 minutes. We recommend you prepare no more than 2 slides.
  3. What Topics Should be Covered?
    • Your first slide should include your lab name, the names of team members, and your home department.
    • The next slide should provide a quick overview of your/your lab's expertise as it relates to poverty and health. You can also provide a quick review of recent/significant past projects (what topics did they cover?), funding you've received in poverty and health (which agencies?), as well as some ideas for future projects you'd like to highlight or are seeking collaboration.
    • Make sure to include contact information and URLs/QR codes for your lab.

Slides should be emailed in PowerPoint format to Greidy Miralles (greidy.miralles@uconn.edu) by January 23rd, 2026 at the end of day.
