Robert McCarthy, PhD
Dean Emeritus, School of Pharmacy (Affiliate)
My interests lie in the areas of health care policy, especially as it relates to pharmacy and pharmacy ethics. My scholarship has focused on the ethical issues facing pharmacy practitioners including the right to medication and the impact of managed care, as well as teaching and learning strategies in pharmacy ethics. I am the founding editor and currently co-editor of Introduction to Health Care Delivery: A Primer for Pharmacists; the sixth edition will be published in 2016. Since leaving the Dean’s Office, I have led the university’s interprofessional healthcare initiative focused on four domains: education of health care professionals, patient care, research/scholarship, and outreach/engagement. In this capacity, I have chaired the Interprofessional Task Force, which has become a standing university committee, the Committee on Interprofessional Excellence in Healt hcare (CIPEH).
