Mary Mulrooney is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Connecticut in Pharmacy Practice working with Marie Smith. She holds a Master in Business Administration and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut. Her research interests include but are not limited to, primary care pharmacy services, medication use and safety, medication management improvement, and expanding the role of a pharmacist.
Her research primarily involves the development and implementation of new care delivery models for the integration of pharmacists in patient-centered, team-based primary care settings, particularly for medication management for adults with chronic diseases.
Mary will be involved in a Pharmacy Technical Assistance project granted by the CT State Innovation Model. She will also be working to write and submit a proposal for a Dongahue Foundation grant in partnership with Hartford Healthcare. She anticipates more research opportunities to surface as the year progresses.
Her work through the SIM Pharmacy Technical Assistance project will involve working with provider organizations throughout the state to guide organizational change and implementation of new pharmacy services for the betterment of patient health outcomes. This work will focus on understanding the dynamics of healthcare leadership behavior and the science and practice of developing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating effective health behavior change interventions to address interdisciplinary inefficiencies in medication management. She will also be involved in educating and mentoring UConn PharmD students.
