Research Overview
My area of research is the evaluation of diets and other lifestyle factors including exercise and weight loss on heart disease risk and diabetes prevention. In my work I conduct clinical interventions using individuals across the age spectrum from children to elderly people. In my work, we measure dietary effects on dyslipidemias, inflammation and oxidative stress. I have conducted dietary interventions in other countries including Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. I also utilize the guinea pig as an animal model to evaluate the effects of diet in reversing hepatic steatosis and atherosclerosis.
