Graduate Student, Communication (Affiliate)
My research spans interpersonal, health, and computer-mediated communication and focuses on the use of communication to understand, and ultimately reduce, instances of gender-based violence. To reach that goal, I have conducted studies on such topics as sexual assault education programs, gendered power dynamics, and expectancy violations in online dating contexts. More broadly, my research interests in public health have led me to study such topics as the effect of social media use on mental health as well as the relationship between LGBQ hate speech, stress, and emotional support.
