Research Overview
My primary area of research interest is focused on any issues which have a public health impact, specifically health interventions and preventive medicine. Recently, I have become more involved in occupational health and am a member of the Occupational Health and Safety of Connecticut Workers Core Interest Group. I am presently involved in a research project which recently received funding through an InCHIP Obesity Seed Grant. This study involves improving firefighter mental and physical health through an on-duty fitness training and wellness program. The study, to be conducted at the UConn Fire Department, involves 12 weeks of functional and standard fitness training, as well as six educational sessions centered on physical activity, nutrition, and stress management.
