Research Overview

As a medical sociologist with a background and interest in child health services, I have worked in a variety of organizations to promote pediatric primary health care and maximize the contribution that pediatric primary care makes to children’s lifelong health and development. I have done research in areas related to medical home, the integration of behavioral health and primary care, care coordination, and early detection of risk factors in children. In the coming years, I am committed to expanding my work in pediatric primary care to further explore the relationships between primary care and other services that children use, including mental health, education, family support services, and child care. Consistent with my past work, I recognize the critical role that health and social policy play in connecting components of the childhood system to one another to ensure that children and families can effectively use services and reap maximal benefit. I am currently involved in state health reform efforts that support cross-sector collaboration in the organization and delivery of child health services.
