Research Overview

I am a clinical pharmacist and postdoctoral pharmacy fellow currently enrolled in a unique two-year health services research fellowship in pharmacy practice transformation. I completed my postgraduate clinical training at a physician-owned and operated Accountable Care Organization, where my residency practice experience was largely focused on the role and impact of the clinical pharmacist in value-based, primary care settings.

My scholarship and clinical practice experiences have focused on developing and transforming care delivery through the integration and expansion of clinical pharmacy services within community-based settings, including primary care and community pharmacy practice. One of my longitudinal fellowship projects incorporated observational research techniques to assess primary care workflows for four medication-related activities within a primary care office. Data findings from this project were used to identify areas for workflow performance improvement to enhance medication and patient safety. A second project was designed to provide insight into ways to enhance current community pharmacist care delivery using consumer perceptions of the expanded role of the community pharmacist. By shaping the consumer perception of the value of the community pharmacist, this project will increase community advocacy for continued transformation of the community pharmacist role as a provider of direct, clinical patient care.
