Research Overview
I am a Registered Dietitian working to obtain my Masters in Health Promotion. My interests include improving the health and well-being of individuals through nutrition intervention approaches that permit long-term behavior change. Specifically, I am interested in counseling and health education for individuals with chronic conditions or seeking preventive care. My graduate research under the direction of Dr. Pouran Faghri consists of involvement with worksite health promotion programs targeted towards state employees in the Department of Corrections, funded by CPH-NEW. My role on the team is to utilize my evidence-based nutrition knowledge to assist in the design, intervention, and evaluation of health promotion programs in the various facilities. My undergraduate career at UConn allowed me to be actively involved in a collaborative research project with Extension Educator Tina Fox Dugdale, presented at the CT Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Spring Meeting. My undergraduate experiences exposed me to an array of clinical and community settings, all which have heightened my ambition to help others make changes. Through my graduate work and with InCHIP involvement I aim to assist individuals and community groups with innovative strategies to develop lifestyle behaviors that reduce chronic disease risk and health care costs.
