Research Overview
My research advances knowledge on cost, access, quality, effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of patient-centered health care. I actively engage in health (clinical, economic and patient-reported) outcomes research. This informs medical decision-making behaviors and health policy. I study the determinants and outcomes of real-world medication use, pharmacy services, (including health information technology, mHealth and eHealth applications), and related policies. I have led the design, conduct, interpretation and dissemination of several retrospective and prospective research studies. My research has covered psychiatry, cancer, and critical care medicine including infectious diseases in various practices (hospital, outpatient, and community). I have also developed, validated and used various patient reported measures. These measures include patient’s a) behavior (self-management, adherence, barriers), b) preferences (willingness to give time for pharmacy services), and c) outcomes (health related quality of life, health status).
