Research Overview

I am a current masters level student in Health Promotion also in the Coordinated Dietetics program. For my research project and practicum, I am working with Valerie Duffy, Tina Dugdale, Ellen Shanley and fellow graduate student Rachel Hildrey on a project involving the feasibility of social media to improve nutrition literacy, physical and mental health among a SNAP-eligible population in Connecticut. In order to access this, we created an Instagram and Facebook page called UConn Healthy Family CT, where we post content daily aimed at SNAP-eligible participants. This content includes nutrition information, healthy recipes, physical activity posts and much more. Individually, I am researching the feasibility of utilizing social media to improve fruit and vegetable intake among a low-income population, as this population is historically the most at risk for inadequate fruit and vegetable consumption.
