Brooke Davey, MD
Pediatrics / CCMC, UConn Health
As a pediatric cardiologist at Connecticut Children’s and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, I have conducted multiple translational research projects in the field of pediatric cardiology. I received a grant from the New England Congenital Cardiology Research Foundation (NECCRF) as the Principal Investigator for the multi-institutional study, “T-Cell receptor excision circles: a novel approach to identify immunodeficiency in newborns with congenital heart disease,” that was published in the Journal of Pediatrics. As a member of the New England Congenital Cardiology Association (NECCA) Fontan Working Group, I spearheaded a study on surveillance and screening of Fontan patients published in Congenital Heart Disease. I partnered with Dr. Glenn Flores to study social determinants of health (SDH) in patients with congenital heart disease (CHD), resulting in a 2020 publication in Pediatric Research. As a result of my NECCA networking connections and expertise in the field of SDH in CHD, I was invited to co-chair the NECCA Health Disparities Working Group with Dr. David Brown at Boston Children’s Hospital. I look ahead to future projects exploring health disparities for patients with cardiac anomalies with the ultimate goal of leveraging my research to improve outcomes for CHD patients.
