Research Overview

My research interests concern global HIV epidemiology and policy. My work has examined the relationship between violence against women and HIV, HIV politics and policy in Southern Africa, measuring political commitment to respond to HIV and the complex relationships among poverty, economic development, inequality and HIV risk in Africa. My current work in progress is analyzing the reasons for East and Southern Africa’s hyper-epidemics, including the role of concurrent sexual partnerships and male circumcision.
