Research Overview

I am an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director of Public Health Research in the Center for Public Health and Health Policy. My areas of interest include research and program evaluation related to public health, mental health, substance abuse, occupational and environmental medicine and corrections. Currently, I am the PI for the evaluation of the Garrett Lee Smith Connecticut Campus Suicide Prevention Initiative, a SAMHSA funded project, to develop and enhance suicide prevention and mental health promotion programs in communities. I am the co-PI for the evaluation of a CT Department of Public Health initiative on chronic diseases and a co-investigator for the State Innovation Model to examine multi-payer health care payment and service delivery models. The common thread throughout my work has been to improve the well-being, services and treatment of vulnerable population s including individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, individuals with disabilities, inmates and custodians.
