Robin Whittemore, PhD

Associate Professor of Nursing, Yale University (Affiliate)

Research Overview

I have expertise in translating educational and behavioral interventions for chronic illness in diverse settings. My initial doctoral and post-doctoral work focused on translating a behavioral intervention for women with type 2 diabetes provided by registered nurses into a community-based diabetes education clinic. Other work has translated an efficacious coping skills training program for adolescents with type 1 diabetes from a group-based intervention to the internet. Most recently, my work has focused on translating the diabetes prevention program for nurse practitioners to provide to adults at-risk in primary care. Current funding includes projects to translate the diabetes prevention program for visiting nurses to provide in low-income housing and for high school teachers to provide via the internet in 10th grade science or health curriculum.
