I have almost 25 years of professional experience working with computer systems and networking. Starting out in high school as the assistant system administrator I was responsible for supporting teachers and students in the applications on the network. I was also responsible for maintaining the 65 [that was a lot for a high school 1993] computers attached to the network. From there I went on to “Log on America” (LOA) and worked on a project that would make them the first ISP in New England to offer the precursor to DSL service. At LOA I learned the basics of Sun, BSD and Linux networking that would be the foundation for later projects.
Moving on to pds2k.com in 1999 I started becoming responsible for supporting and maintaining clients networks on a much larger scale. In 2001 I designed, built, programmed and supported the pds2k.com IGG™. This was pds2k.com’s own modular line of firewall products and an answer to medium-sized businesses demand for a high-level firewall at a sub $10K price point they could afford.
pds2k.com would act as the IT department for many companies to support the existing IT departments of companies that already had them. The result was providing me with an incredible width and breadth of experiences designing, installing and supporting networks for small companies, non-profits and multi-national corporations. During my almost 14 years at PDS I have become a master at: IP networking, Virtualization, Disaster Recovery design and implementation, VoIP and Microsoft Server products (Windows, Exchange, SQL and Lync). The most powerful skill I have developed is the ability to take complex concepts like Exchange clustering or Multi-site disaster recovery and data backup solutions and explain them in plain English that people can understand. With that understanding executives and business owners can make informed decisions about their next steps with technology.
