Research Overview

Dr. Lance Bauer is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and an Associate Scientific Director of the Alcohol Research Center. He is the Principal Investigator for a major scientific component of the Center grant. That 5-year project is a study of genetic and neurophysiological moderators of risk for an obese body mass response among 13-18 yo adolescents with alcohol and other substance use disorders. He has published extensively (>130 pubs) on the topics of genetic and personality risk factors, their neurophysiological correlates, and their contributions to treatment outcome in both adolescent and adult substance abusers. Dr. Bauer’s research is also supported by other grants. He now, for example, devotes effort to the NIAAA-funded COGA project for which he is a co-investigator and member of its neurophysiology committee.
