Jonathan Gill is CHIP’s featured employee for the month of January. Jonathan began working at CHIP in June 2008 as a Computer Technical Support Consultant II, and he was promoted to Computer Technical Support Consultant III in August 2009. During his tenure at CHIP, Jonathan assumed the role of IT Director. He also served as CHIP’s systems engineer, designing and implementing CHIP’s datacenter and leading CHIP IT’s server virtualization initiatives. Jonathan was responsible for the management and oversight of the CHIP IT department and all IT infrastructure-related aspects. He provided advanced computer hardware, network, and software installation and support; computer instruction; documentation; and consultation services to the Center. Jonathan’s hard work and dedication resulted in an IT department that provides some of the best IT services and support at the University.
Jonathan recently accepted a new position within UConn IT as a Desktop Virtualization Engineer, leading the Universities desktop virtualization initiative (http://vpc.uconn.edu). As a testament to his dedication to CHIP, Jonathan is continuing at the Center on a part-time basis through the end of February to ensure that the transition to a new CHIP Computer Technical Support Consultant is a smooth and successful one.
